We all have fond memories of holding a bacon butty whilst jamming joyfully to Beyonce at a wedding reception. So Evening food : What is it? Why do you need it? How do you choose it?
Here is our crash course to doing evening food your way!
1. What is it? Evening food is additional snacks you provide for your guests in the evening reception of your wedding. It isn’t usually a full meal but rather something people can pick up and wander around with. It’s purpose to satisfy any peckish guests and soak up a bit of alcohol.
- Do I need it? You don’t categorically need evening food if you’re having no additional evening guests however it is something we would always recommend, particularly if you are having a ceremony earlier than 3pm. This is because generally guests will not have eaten lunch and with your wedding breakfast counting as that they are bound to be hungry again by the time 8pm rolls around.
- What are the options? The options for evening food are fairly limitless. Pizza’s, fajita’s, hog roasts, good old fashion bacon butties and cheese boards. You’re looking for easy eating, comfort food, perfect for in between dances & selfies!
- What can it add to my day? You want to have a three-course wedding breakfast. You also really want to have an excuse to eat Chicken curry on your wedding day. It could be conceived as risky to have an entirely noodle based wedding breakfast, but evening food wok boxes allow for you to channel your deep love for Asian cuisine whilst allowing the wedding breakfast to maintain a certain level of formality! Use evening food to have all of your favourite foods on one day, roast beef AND pizza’s, totally doable!
- How many people do I cater for? We normally recommend catering for 80 of your overall guests. This allows evening guests an opportunity to have a munch if they didn’t have time for dinner (although most people do eat before) and your day guests have a chance to soak up some of their daytime alcohol consumption and revive their spirits for an evening of dancing and frivolity!
