You need cheering up, we need cheering up and so, in the only form of distraction we can offer, the content-rich kind; here are the top wedding trends we have observed and loved over the last four wedding seasons. Here are the pithily named, four wedding seasons and a trend.
- Copper Cutlery: Copper E V E R Y T H I N G. Suppliers across the country thought that this was just a passing phase. They thought it would die out after a season and that the investment would not be worth it. Boy were they wrong. First spotted in 2018, this trend has been almost more enduring than the Princess Di Wedding Dress. You have all well and truly stuck to your rustic-meets-Industrial style guns and we are so here for it. We’ve even invested in some tres chic industrial copper pipe risers and evening food stations, allowing you a gentle nod to the trend that has completely captivated, without the full commitment.
- Gold Cutlery: Copper Cutlery’s slightly older sophisticated cousin. As at home in a stately Manor as in a DIY Rustic Barn. If you’re looking for elegance and a bit of glamour, we predict this trend and its equally as glam neighbour (the gold-rimmed glassware) will continue to go from strength to strength over the next couple of seasons.
- Stoneware: beautiful Scandi Stoneware. Well, don’t you bring out the pizzazz of everything you come into contact with! This trend began in late 2018 and we are certain that it hasn’t yet begun its ascent. A lot of wedding trends take their cue from the interiors industry and with Stoneware making a huge splash everywhere from Ideal Homes to IKEA you can be certain that this could be one to dominate the first half of the decade.
- Rustic Tables. What started as a migration away from hotel weddings with crisp white linen has evolved into a trend that began slowly, in 2017 and has been growing ever since. In the past six months, the demand for the rustic tables has increased tenfold and we can’t see that that trajectory is set to change any time soon!
- Four Wedding Seasons of Colour Schemes:
2017 – The year of Navy & Blush
2018 – Stone Grey’s & Sage. The beginning of Copper Accents in cutlery and centrepieces.
2019 – Metallics: Golds, Coppers, brilliant silvers – The Year of the Glam.
2020 – Barely There: Subtle whites, creams, greenery with the occasional pop of cornflower blue or brilliant mustard.
6. Bistro Boards: Okay this one is technically cheating as it is from our menu packs. However, since the launch of Bistro Boards at the beginning of 2019 we have had an incredible take-up, with more than 25 of our weddings in 2020 opting for this style! The menus were developed to offer the perfect middle ground between our Relaxed Dining BBQ Boards and the more Traditional Three-Course Dining, and although we’re definitely biased, we’d say it’s a trend worth capitalising on.
